Grapes for this Sauvignon Blanc come from primarily two vineyards. The largest share is from a vineyard just East of Napa County in Solano County. The shallow sandstone and shale soils in this vineyard are free-draining and with limited fertility causing the vines to struggle for water and nutrients, which results in smaller berries with more concentrated flavors. The delta influence from the south keeps the nights cool and retains acidity in the grapes. The second vineyard is planted near the town of Knightsen in Contra Costa County, just south of the Sacramento River Delta. The soils in these vineyards are clay loam and the vineyards benefit from warm days and cool nights.
