The next time you want a little “me” time or a cooking lesson in your neighborhood, look to your local Fry’s Signature Marketplace Store at Tatum and Shea. Let our Executive Chef show you how you can be a chef in your own kitchen - from simple meals in minutes to gourmet 5-star meals.

Our classes range from demonstrations to hands-on instructions. Classes are offered several times a week in gorgeous and relaxing surroundings. Fry’s Chef will teach tips, tricks and techniques on cooking items, such as gluten free meals, specialty dishes like Thai Spring Rolls, and share their own secret recipes.

In-Person Classes

We have a variety of classes that change with the seasons. Experience the art of fine food with fun, hands-on cooking classes. Designed to introduce you to the wide range of multicultural cuisines and revisit beloved classics using high quality food preparations. Our Chef instructors will guide you through the recipes. Once cooking is complete, guests will enjoy their freshly created meal.

General Information

  • We respectfully request 72-hour preregistration for classes.
  • Payment must be received 48 hours before class starts. Seats are not guaranteed until payment has been made.
  • A minimum of 4 students required for class to be held.
  • If minimum is not met, class will be cancelled, and you will be notified 24 hours prior.Classes start sharp at the designated time.
  • Please wear comfortable clothes. You will be standing, cooking and working for most of the class.
  • To participate in hands-on cooking, students must wear closed-toe shoes and tie back any long hair in accordance with food safety codes. No exceptions.
  • If you have a food allergy, please check with us before attending the class. Adjustments to recipes cannot be made during class.
  • We have a 48-hour cancellation policy. You have two days before the class starts to cancel your reservation. If you must cancel within this time, you will receive a credit toward a future class.
  • Beer and wine may be purchased before class starts through the Wine Bar only and enjoyed during class. Attendees must be 21 years or older to consume any alcohol.

Celebrating a milestone with family and friends, looking to bring the team together? A private cooking party is a fun and engaging alternative to the usual cake & ice cream outing. Our private events offer your guests an opportunity to have fun with a pinch of education thrown in the mix. They will learn valuable cooking skills while making a delicious meal and creating memories that will linger long after the last bite of dessert is gone. From tapas to healthy cooking to technique demos to competitive cooking, we can customize a menu to fit your group’s needs and tastes.

The Cooking School can accommodate up to 16 guests. After the party, each guest will walk away with confidence to recreate their meal at home.

Private Event Information

Kids

Hands-on Cooking Classes start at $200, which includes 3 items for up to 6 guests.
It is recommended for ages 8 and up.
Additional guests are $20 each. Duration 1½ to 2 hours.

Cupcakes Wars package starts at $300 for 9 guests and is recommended for ages 8 and up.
Additional guests are $10 each. Class limit is 12. Duration 1½ to 2 hours.
The event consists of three timed rounds in which participants will make and decorate cupcakes in a team competition.
1-3 adults need to stay in attendance for judging.
This event requires participants to have the ability to read and follow a basic recipe, to be able to mix and measure ingredients. This is a non-teaching class.

Mystery Basket package starts at $350 for 6 guests is recommended for ages 12 and up.
Additional guests are $20 each. Class limit is 12. Duration 2 to 2½ hours.
The event is three timed rounds in which participants will create a meal consisting of a side dish, entrée and dessert from surprise ingredients in a team competition. Menu and recipes are included and will be adjusted for skill level of participants. This event requires participants to have basic cooking abilities: mixing and measuring ingredients, cut fruits and vegetables, and handle hot pans. At the end all will enjoy the created meal.

Adults

Hands-on Cooking
Our Hands-On cooking classes start with an introduction to the recipes and basic knife skills. Guests will then work to prepare and cook the recipes for the menu. Our Chef instructor will always be nearby to help in the process. At the end of class everyone feasts on meal all helped to create. Duration 2 to 2½ hours.

$275 for up to 5 participants, includes 3 items per menu, additional guests $40 each.

Competitive Cooking
Perfect for corporate team building or family fun, competitive cooking events are designed to inspire creativity and a little friendly competition. In this timed culinary challenge, you be will be divided into teams, and each team will work to create a meal that will be judged by our fellow participants.

Teams will first brainstorm ideas inspired by the mystery basket ingredients and have access to our well-stocked pantry. Our chef will be there for basic skills and tips. Each team will produce enough portions to sample their own efforts, as well as share with their rival team. Duration 2½ to 3½ hours.

$400 for up to 6 participants, additional guests $40 each.

Technique Demonstration
In our demonstration cooking classes, the Chef will prepare a delicious recipe while sharing culinary stories, cooking tips and tricks of the trade. There will be lots of learning, lots of laughs and tasty samples of the prepared food.
Duration 1 to 1½ hours.
$200 for up to 5 participants, includes 1 recipe and appetizer. Additional guests $35 each.

  • $100 deposit is required to hold your reservation. Balance to be paid before the start of your event.
  • Final guest count for event is required 48 hours prior. This is the count to finalize the menu amounts and your balance due.
  • The Cooking School can accommodate up to 16 guests.

Chef “O” Omei Eaglerider, Executive Chef Instructor

Omei’s first career was as an artist, in which she won several awards and had projects that toured the world. Looking for a new challenge and having a talent for cooking, she transitioned to the Art of Food in 2000. She has worked as an Executive Pastry Chef for the top catering company in the valley, as a private chef and then as Chef/Owner of Terra Java Bake Shop. Traditional and historical influences inspire her approach to the food she creates.

FAQs

How do I plan an event?
After receiving your event request, our resident chef will contact you and walk you through the process of planning your event, guiding you through each decision. The process is quick and easy. In fact, most events can be planned in under an hour!

How do I choose a menu?
We have created a list of menus including recipes that have stood the test of time and are guaranteed to satisfy even the most discerning palate. You may choose from those menus or you may work with our chef to customize your own.

Who will lead the event?
The chef instructors are professional chefs who have been trained to be engaging and inspiring teachers and leaders. All have a culinary degree and at least five years of professional cooking experience. They’ll be present during your entire event - guiding, teaching and cooking alongside your guests. Our chefs focus on ensuring that all of our guests feel completely at ease in our kitchens and leave inspired with new knowledge that they can really use at home.

What’s included?
Your private event will include a full meal unless otherwise specified, and printed recipes of the selected menu.

What if some of my guests are “not into cooking”?
We hear this every so often and are prepared for the reluctant cook. Your guests may participate at whatever level they feel comfortable. We encourage involvement, but your guests are welcome to simply visit, sip wine or relax should they choose.

Can we drink alcohol?
Yes. If everyone in your party is 21 years of age, you may enjoy beer and wine during the event. Store policy is a limit of 2 adult beverages per person per class, and must be purchased at the wine bar.

What if someone attending has a food allergy?
We can accommodate most dietary restrictions, including vegetarian, gluten-free and allergy specifications. Simply let us know and we’ll work to ensure that each and every guest is taken care of.

Can we take food home?
Only our baking events allow us to let guests take food away from the premises. Unfortunately, all other food products are prohibited by law.
